The Maintenance Electrician/PLC Tech installs, troubleshoots, repairs the following systems: PLCs, HMIs, VFD Drives, Vision Systems, Motor Control Centers, Power Distribution Centers, Motors (DC, AC, Stepper, Servo, etc.), Three Phase/Single Phase - power and control circuits, Control Panel layout and component installation. Additional duties as assigned by Electrical Maintenance Foreman or Maintenance Manager.
The Maintenance Electrician/PLC Tech reports to the Electrical Maintenance Foreman via the Maintenance Manager.
Supervisor Responsibility: The Maintenance Electrician/PLC Tech is responsible for directing and instructing one or two helpers 50% or more of the time.
Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities: The Maintenance Electrician/PLC Tech must adhere to all safety, health, attendance, and code of conduct policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook. The Electrician will be required to perform, but not limited to, the following:
Operate all shop equipment including welders, drill presses, lathes, end mills and hand tools.
Use precision measuring instruments and read blueprints.
Ability to use Allen Bradley and Siemens Software to troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and Drives, and make minor program modifications when necessary and approved by management.
Participation and implementation of the required OSHA Arc Flash programs and update as required.
Ability to use and interpret multiple drive software programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Eurotherm, ABB) for expedition of drive changeout and troubleshooting.
Install and troubleshoot electronic instrumentation for control panels, power line feeds (branch/feeder), motors and controllers, transformers, and control circuits.
Perform Preventative Maintenance on all machinery and identify and correct defects to prevent down time.
Inventory of electrical parts, etc.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma. Minimum of five (5) years experience in the electrical field, in an industrial/ manufacturing environment. Experience with PLCs and AC/DC drives is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read technical manuals and to size and monitor motors, motor controllers and other electrical equipment.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to take initiative to install and repair circuitry according to the National Electrical code and be able to anticipate safety and mechanical failures of circuitry.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Journeysman License or equivalent; the ability to obtain one requires 3 years experience in the electrical field.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to read blueprints. Must perform preventative maintenance and identify and correct defects in the machinery to prevent downtime. Ability to understand complicated drawings or specifications and use a wide variety of measuring instruments.
